The Canteen Restaurant

The Canteen Restaurant is a breakfast and lunch spot known for slow-smoked barbecue sold by the pound, including brisket, burnt ends, rib tips, baby back ribs, pork butt, chicken and turkey. Smoked meats are sold until they run out for the day, so calling ahead is the surest way to get what you want.

The restaurant takes phone orders for barbecue by the pound and catering for graduations, birthdays and parties, including whole pig roasts. It sits on South Hough Street in downtown Barrington, and the ceiling is decorated with a notable collection of model airplanes. Hours are 8 AM to 3 PM on weekends and 9 AM to 3 PM on weekdays, so it is a daytime stop.
