Hallenbeck Coin Gallery is a full-service coin dealer that buys, sells and trades collectible U.S. and foreign coins and currency, both certified and raw. The shop also deals in gold, platinum, silver and palladium bullion coins, rounds and bars, and buys gold and silver scrap jewelry and flatware. Founded in 1983 by Ken Hallenbeck and now run by his son Tom, it is known locally and nationally for fair treatment and narrow buy-sell margins.
The store sits just north of downtown Colorado Springs, two blocks from the American Numismatic Association Money Museum and library. Staff give a free verbal appraisal on a small number of coins, while written appraisals for larger collections carry a reasonable fee that is waived when you sell to them. The shop is authorized to submit coins to PCGS and NGC for grading, and paper money goes to currency grading services. Bring coins in during regular business hours.
