Sheppard Alternative Animal Care

Sheppard Alternative Animal Care is a holistic veterinary practice for dogs, cats and other pets. The practice focuses on finding the root cause of chronic problems using a non-invasive body analysis called Nutrition Response Testing, then building an individualized nutritional program. Its services cover digestive issues, allergies and skin conditions, arthritis and orthopedic conditions, and general well-being and prevention, and it also offers anesthesia-free dental cleanings for dogs performed by a veterinary dental hygienist.

New patients begin with a phone consultation, which covers vaccination alternatives, preventive care and the pet's health history, followed by supplement and diet suggestions. Because Dr. Sheppard's schedule is very full, new clients are added to in-person appointments once openings become available. The office is inside a State Farm building on Garfield Road in Clinton Township, with a parking lot provided.
