Cheyenne Urban Forestry

Cheyenne Urban Forestry is the city division that looks after public trees in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It sits within the Parks and Recreation Department and cares for city-owned trees in parks, golf courses, cemeteries, along the greenway and on other city property, a population the division puts at more than 12,000 trees. Staff handle planting, mulching, watering, pruning, removals, and the identification and treatment of insects and disease.

Street trees between the sidewalk and the curb are checked regularly for hazards, and the division directs property owners on maintaining trees, shrubs and hedges along public rights-of-way. It also licenses the tree care companies that prune, remove or spray trees. Residents can apply to the Rooted in Cheyenne planting program in spring or fall, and the division organizes Arbor Day, Treetober Fest and tree care workshops. The tree house and tree walk at Lion's Park and the High Plains Arboretum at the High Plains Research Station are part of its educational resources.
