Bergey's Breadbasket is a family-owned farm, bakery, deli and creamery in Chesapeake, with roots going back to a dairy farm the Bergey family started after moving from Pennsylvania in 1910. The menu covers sandwiches, ice cream, pastries and pies, mixed from scratch and baked in the shop's own oven. Apple pies have been featured recently, and regulars praise the pies and the fresh ice cream.
The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 6 PM and closed Sundays, with a few holiday closures. Next door, Bergey's Barnyard lets families pet goats, pigs, sheep, cows and other animals for a small fee, and in the fall there is a pumpkin patch, corn maze and wagon rides. The shop sits at 2207 Mount Pleasant Road.
