Sharkey's Cuts for Kids

Sharkey's Cuts for Kids gives children's haircuts that include a wash, cut and blow-dry, plus a balloon and a lollipop. Boys' and girls' haircuts are $37, and a child's first haircut is $42, which includes a certificate, a lock of hair to keep and a photo. The shop also offers up-dos, braids and curl styling for older girls and tweens.

Children can sit in a police cruiser, a Barbie Jeep, a race car or a Mini Cooper while watching cartoons or playing on Xbox stations. Parents can get a haircut or a wash and style in a private lounge. Appointments are booked online, and there is a tool for creating a social narrative for children who feel anxiety or sensory sensitivities. The shop is at Via Campanile in Carlsbad.
