New Spaces

New Spaces is a design-build remodeling firm serving the Minneapolis–St. Paul metro. Its work covers whole-home remodels, kitchens, bathrooms and saunas, basements, room additions, home offices, laundry rooms, and exteriors and outdoor living. Projects start with a design phase, where an in-house designer helps prioritize needs, wants and wishes and presents several plan options before construction.

The firm is second-generation and family-owned, founded by Doug Nelson and now led with his son Shawn Nelson, with more than 40 years in business. Its headquarters is in Burnsville, with a design office at Southdale Center in Edina. Work is concentrated in the South and West metro, including Burnsville, Eagan, Lakeville, Edina and Minnetonka, and a budget is set once the design and scope are final.
