The Optical Center

The Optical Center is a locally owned independent optical store that dispenses prescription eyewear and a wide range of sunglasses. It also repairs frames, with services such as frame adjustment, screw replacement, nose pad replacement, frame straightening, and restoration of vintage eyewear. The store has been in business since 1952, when it was founded by Herbert and June Davis.

The shop sits on the Church Street Marketplace in Burlington, a short walk from Lake Champlain. The interior keeps its original woodwork, cabinetry, and tin ceilings. There is no optometrist on staff, so the store does not bill insurance directly, but customers can submit their purchases to their provider for possible reimbursement. Hours run Monday through Saturday, and the store is closed on Sundays.
