Smallcakes

Smallcakes is a cupcakery in Western Springs that bakes its cupcakes from scratch every day, with a rotating set of signature flavors such as Birthday Cake, Red Velvet, Carrot Cake and Boston Cream Pie. The shop also makes homemade ice cream in small batches, served as single or double scoops or as the Smallcakes Smash, a cupcake topped with ice cream and toppings of your choice. Special order cakes are available with 24 hours notice.

The Birthday Cake cupcake, a vanilla cake with buttercream and sprinkles, is the most popular item on the menu. The kitchen handles peanuts, tree nuts and gluten, so it cannot offer certified nut-free or gluten-free desserts, and customers with allergies are asked to speak with a staff member. The shop is at 4700 Gilbert Ave., Unit 53, in Western Springs.
