Bridgeport Hospital
Connecticut's only dedicated burn center and a regional trauma center

Free care for uninsured, low-income residents of the Bridgeport area115 Highland Ave., Bridgeport, CT

Fred Weisman Americares Free Clinic is a free medical clinic that provides non-urgent and chronic care to low-income, uninsured patients. Volunteer doctors and nurses diagnose and treat conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Essential prescription medications are available at little or no charge through patient assistance programs and donated medicines, and lab tests, X-rays and specialist referrals are arranged as needed.
Appointments are preferred, and the clinic is open on weekdays in Bridgeport. Emergency care, dental work, pediatric care, mental health treatment and care during pregnancy are not offered, so those needs need to be met elsewhere. Pre-employment physicals must be scheduled in advance with the clinic director. Patients are asked to be honest about their medical, financial and insurance status, and the clinic is funded by donations.
