The story

Ballard Forge is an independent blacksmithing and metal fabrication studio that makes industrial-strength ironwork for commercial and residential clients. Its work ranges from structural steel and historic bridge rehabilitation to decorative ironwork, stair railings and antique restoration, along with riveted barrels, planter boxes and fire pits.

Work is taken on by appointment only, and the studio says the price quoted is the price paid. Steve Howell holds several nondestructive testing and welding inspection certifications, and the studio's work has appeared in engineering textbooks and historic bridge projects. The studio is in Bremerton's Navy Yard City, and it also runs an online store.
