The BYTE Shop

The BYTE Shop is a community-focused electronics repair, resale and recycling shop in Jamaica Plain. Repairs cover Mac and PC laptops and desktops, iPhone screens, game consoles and general consumer electronics, along with memory and drive upgrades and data recovery and transfer. The shop also restores vintage and retro computers, rents them out for set dressing, and offers digitization services.

Small businesses and individuals can bring in computers for general IT consulting, and the shop sells computer convenience items such as power adapters, USB charging cables and backup hard drives. Electronics recycling drop-off is available during shop hours, and larger items or lots can be picked up by arrangement through an email request. Visitors can also see one of the largest collections of historic home computers in New England, covering 1965 to 1995.
