Uncommon Physical Therapy

Uncommon Physical Therapy is an outpatient physical therapy practice with programs for golfers, runners, overhead athletes, strength training and recovery from pain or injury. The practice works with athletes and families, and it has a medical provider role for Briarwood Soccer Club. Its golf program includes TPI-certified fitness and performance work aimed at improving the game while keeping players healthy.

The practice is out-of-network and does not directly accept insurance, but it provides documentation for patients to submit for possible reimbursement. Visits are usually one to two times a week, one-on-one with the therapist, and appointments are required. Alabama is a limited direct-access state, so an initial screening evaluation can be done without a referral, while ongoing treatment for an injury generally requires one. The clinic is at Cahaba Valley Road in Birmingham.
