Asia Rug Company

Asia Rug Company cleans, repairs and restores handmade oriental rugs, including Heriz, Serapi, Oushak, Kashan, Mashad, Tabriz, Sarouk and Kerman styles. The business started in 1932 as a family business selling and servicing handmade rugs, and since 1991 it has focused mainly on preserving them. The company says it has worked on more than 100,000 handmade rugs.

Cleaning is a four-step process, and the company recommends professional cleaning every 12 months for rugs in high-traffic areas and every 18 to 24 months for lighter use. Repair work includes reweaving, fringe repair and dyeing, and appraisals are available for insurance, resale or curiosity. The shop is at 408 Hollywood Boulevard in Birmingham, and it serves customers across the Southeast, mainly in the Birmingham and Montgomery areas.
