American Hardware & Lumber Insurance, known as AHLI, is an insurance company for independent hardware stores, lumber dealers, building material dealers, paint retailers, nursery and garden centers, rental dealers, and wood products manufacturers across the United States. It grew out of a hardware cooperative and has provided coverage since 1972, offering customized commercial policies, including options for businesses with complicated exposures and for equipment rental operations.

Coverage is also open to other independent businesses. Special event coverage is available for wedding receptions, fundraisers, sporting events and similar gatherings. AHLI pays annual dividends to eligible policyholders and offers claims service 24/7. Customer service is handled from the Barrington, Illinois office, and the company's corporate headquarters is in Cornelius, North Carolina.
