Varney Agency

Varney Agency is an insurance agency that writes business, personal and specialty wholesale coverage. Its agents work with commercial clients on risks ranging from construction and real estate to forestry and employee benefits, and they also handle home, auto, life and recreational vehicle insurance for families. Personal clients get a package built around their own risk factors rather than an off-the-shelf policy.

The agency has been operating since 1980, when it grew out of a family business that started in Bangor with Bill Varney in 1960. Its Bangor office is at 32 Oak Street, and the group has other Maine offices as well as locations in New Jersey and New York. Its specialty wholesale arm works with insurance agents across North America on harder-to-place risks.
