Fukumoto

Fukumoto is an izakaya, a Japanese restaurant known for yakitori grilled over Japanese charcoal, along with sushi and sashimi and classic Japanese comfort food. The menu runs from starters like takowasa and karaage to skewers such as king salmon and bonjiri, plus traditional and special maki rolls and nigiri.

Reservations are taken by phone only, not email, and the restaurant holds a table for up to 15 minutes after the booking time. A credit card is required for parties of six or more, and cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice. Takeout is available through Uber Eats on Tuesday through Saturday. Chef and owner Kazu Fukumoto opened the restaurant in 2015 after years of sushi work in Austin and yakitori training in Tokyo. It sits on Medina St. at the Corazon, with parking validated in the Corazon garage on San Marcos St.
