Paws and Stripes

Paws and Stripes is a nonprofit that provides service dogs to Veterans living with service-connected trauma and offers mental health support to Veterans, military service members and their loved ones. Its Veteran Service Dog program was built for people with invisible disabilities, and the organization is nationally accredited by Assistance Dogs International. Individual therapy, peer support and workshops round out its work.

Services are offered at no cost to Veterans, service members and their families, and the team takes a holistic approach that covers everyday challenges such as finances, careers, parenting and relationships. Founder Lindsey Kay started the group after seeing the effects of trauma on her own family, and it has raised more than $10 million for New Mexico's military community. The office is on Truman Street in Albuquerque, and volunteers and corporate partners are welcome.
