John Lewis Mechanical Antiques

John Lewis Mechanical Antiques repairs, restores and sells vintage typewriters and phonographs, including Victrolas, Edison cylinder and disc machines, and upright 78 rpm players. Typewriter work includes dismantling, cleaning, polishing and reassembling, and the shop keeps a stock of ribbons and platens for many makes and models. The owner has been working on typewriters since 1966 and keeps a large inventory of parts machines.

Repair estimates are given after you bring the machine in or after you send photos through the website. Machines can also be mailed in, with packing instructions provided on the site. The shop is on Menaul Boulevard in Albuquerque and is open part of the week, Monday through Wednesday.
