Central Desert Behavioral Health Hospital

Central Desert Behavioral Health Hospital is a 64-bed inpatient psychiatric facility for adults and older patients with mental health challenges. It treats conditions including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, substance abuse, and behavioral changes from Alzheimer's and other dementias. Treatment plans are individualized and include group, family, and individual therapy, medication management education, and stress management training.

Admissions are accepted 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and referrals can come from physicians, nurses, social workers, or concerned family members. The staff offers free confidential assessments to help determine whether behavioral health services are needed. Families are encouraged to take part in patient care, and visiting is limited to two visitors per patient at a time, with no visitors under 18. The hospital is at 1525 N. Renaissance Blvd. NE in northeast Albuquerque, and it also has a second location in Rio Rancho.
